Dr. Carlos Sandoval Jaime completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. In 2014, he commenced his tenure as a Virology researcher at the Instituto de Biotecnología UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). Currently, he serves as the president of the “Sociedad Mexicana de Virología” and is a member of the National Researchers System Level 1. His body of work comprises 23 published papers and contributions to 2 book chapters, in addition to numerous presentations at both national and international conferences. Dr. Sandoval Jaime has delivered numerous lectures at the Master’s and doctoral levels and is recognized as one of Mexico’s most effective science communicators.
Among his notable research accomplishments are the development of the first reverse genetic system for calicivirus driven by an IRES sequence and the first DNA reverse genetic system for classic human astrovirus. Furthermore, he conducts research on the involvement of RNA-binding proteins in the replicative strategies of rotavirus and astrovirus.
